Exciting New Additions To My Substack
Let's build a nightmarish little community!
Hi all! I wanted to share some exciting news about Notes from the Writing Nook.
I’ve decided to recreate and expand upon the content I’ve been posting to my Patreon. I LOVE all my supporters there and I’m so thankful for their support, but I also see the potential on Substack for reaching more readers and building a more interactive community.
So, my plan is to be more active here and provide content and discussion for everyone.
Here’s what I’ll be doing going forward:
FREE CONTENT
Exciting announcements & random posts when the mood strikes
Sneak peeks at upcoming stories
My weekly Notes From The Writing Nook updates on what I’m writing
Two-Sentence Stories: a poetry/prose feature, accompanied by an atmospheric photo that captures the mood of the piece
My quarterly Notes From The Writing Nook newsletter
PAID CONTENT
Some of my content will be paid - but I’ll also be offering some of my initial paid posts to everyone so you can see what subscribers will receive, including:
Breeding Ground: a series of posts where I share sources of inspiration for my fiction. This usually includes strange/weird/cool research that inspired my story. Yes, this means me often questionable browser history.
Inklings: Story teasers and snippets, story moodboards, strange tidbits for your own story fodder
Altered Words: My take on "found fiction" or blackout poetry, where I take a story, poem, or other literary work and try to "find" a poem within by simply crossing out the words I want to eliminate from the original piece, creating a new work in the process
Methods to My Madness: where I get specific about a problem I’m having in a short story and how I fixed it.
Exciting Extras: Printable planner-related/organizational items or writing worksheets
As I occasionally take stock of my career and think about what my intentions are, the main thing I keep coming back to is…CONNECTION - to friends, readers, and to other creative minds.
I hope to share our thoughts, ideas, goals, struggles, triumphs.
And I hope by sharing myself in these ways will allow us to get to know one another better, inspire and understand one another, and truly become a community.
New content will start soon! I hope you’ll join me on this journey as I continue to share my creative life - and I hope you’ll interact with me too.
